Write for Us

Thank you for your interest in contributing to SilkStoneHome. We publish practical, homeowner-friendly guides on plumbing, HVAC, pest control, roofing, and home improvement, and we’re always looking for knowledgeable writers who can explain real-world home topics in plain English. Before you pitch or submit, please read these guidelines carefully — they describe exactly what we accept, what we reject, and how our editorial process works.

What We’re Looking For

We accept original, in-depth guides and how-to articles that help homeowners understand, maintain, or improve their homes. Strong topics include step-by-step repair and maintenance walkthroughs, honest product and material comparisons, cost breakdowns and budgeting guides, seasonal checklists, and explainers that demystify technical subjects like water heaters, heat pumps, or roofing systems. We do not accept generic listicles, rewritten versions of existing articles, or thin content written only to target a keyword.

Editorial Standards and Originality

Every submission must be 100% original and written specifically for SilkStoneHome. We run all drafts through plagiarism-checking software, and any submission containing copied or heavily paraphrased material will be rejected without further review. We do not accept AI-only drafts: you may use AI tools for research or outlining, but the final article must be substantially written, verified, and voiced by you, a human expert. Facts, figures, product specifications, and costs must be checked against current, reliable sources, and any claim that could affect a reader’s safety, finances, or home must be accurate and responsibly framed.

Length and Structure

Articles must be a minimum of 1,000 words. Organize your piece with a clear introduction, descriptive subheadings, and a concise conclusion. Use short paragraphs, bullet points where they aid readability, and specific, actionable advice rather than filler. Every guide should answer the reader’s question fully enough that they don’t need to search elsewhere.

Links Policy

You may include a maximum of 1–2 external links, and only when they genuinely help the reader — for example, a link to a manufacturer’s specification page or an official safety resource. Affiliate links are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection. When you link to your own site or brand, use brand or URL anchors only (for example, your company name or your homepage URL as the anchor text). Keyword-rich or optimized anchor text pointing to commercial pages is not allowed.

What Contributors Must Supply

Along with your draft, please provide: a suggested meta title, a meta description of no more than 160 characters, your focus keyword for the article, and licensed images with proper attribution or proof of license. We cannot publish articles with unlicensed or hotlinked images. Include a short author bio (2–3 sentences) and a headshot if you’d like one displayed.

Editorial Review

Every submission goes through editorial review before publishing. Our editor may request revisions, adjust headlines and formatting for clarity and consistency, and fact-check claims. We reserve the right to decline any submission that doesn’t meet our standards, and we do not guarantee publication or a timeline. If your article is accepted, we’ll notify you by email before it goes live.

How to Submit

Send your pitch or completed draft to info@silkstonehome.com with the subject line “Guest Contribution: [Your Proposed Title]”. Include a brief outline or the full draft, your meta title, meta description, focus keyword, image licenses, and your author bio. We review submissions on a rolling basis and aim to respond within two weeks.
